About Moonlight Music Therapy
How I went from full-time music therapist to part-time business owner
I graduated in 2018 from Appalachian State University and began my internship in August with Fairfax County Public Schools in VA. I then went back to NC and worked at a private practice MT company before returning to VA to work with another private practice in Fairfax, VA.

In October 2022, I took a leave of absence to begin my journey into full time motherhood. After dipping my toes back into the workforce for a few months, I've decided to return to the profession I love, part time, here in Montgomery County, MD.

Services
Group Music Therapy
45-minute sessions designed to get your body and brain moving. No musical experience necessary -- sessions are designed to include everyone!
Individual Music Therapy
30, 45, or 60-minute sessions catered specifically to YOU! For music lovers or musicians alike, we'll use music to reach your individual goals.
Virtual Ukulele Lessons
These 30-minute lessons take place via Google Meet -- on your own or with a group of friends/family! We recommend an adult be available to step in and help children if needed.

All you need is a device with internet connection and camera/microphone access and a ukulele!* For successful practice outside of our lessons, we also recommend a digital tuner or tuning app (free options are available in the app store).

*For cost-conscious options, we recommend Kala, Makala, or Donner Ukuleles. The $10-30 options you might find while shopping often don't hold a tune for more than a few minutes. While these are fun to play around with, the student will likely get frustrated with the frequent re-tuning.
Looking to invest a little more? We can provide some higher-priced recommendations, or stop by your local music store and discuss the options!
My Approach
Genuine and Empathetic
I believe that trust must be earned; my client will only trust me as much as I trust them. By coming into the session with genuine intent, I am able to work alongside my clients to make positive change in their lives.

By being real with my clients, I'm able to connect with them in a way that allows me to express true empathy, rather than more hollow sympathy.
Humanistic and Person-Centered
Humanistic music therapy focuses on the individual's ability to direct their own healing. It's based on the idea that people are unique, have free will, and can create their own goals. This theory is based on the idea that people are capable of change and growth. It focuses on the individual rather than on pathology or diagnosis.

Person-Centered music therapists honor the client's voice, create a safe space, listen actively, and collaborate with the client to reach their goals.
Flexible, Personalized Care
Your therapy sessions will focus on your unique needs and goals, allowing for a customized therapeutic experience. From the songs I learn to the instruments I bring, every session is thoroughly planned to cater to the client's preferences.

I'm also not afraid to abandon the plan and meet the client where they are. No matter what mood they are in, or what changes we need, I'm ready to adapt as needed.
